I started my personal spiritual journey in my mid- 40’s after a near death experience. By the time I heard of John of God in 2002, I had been studying spiritual philosophies and alternative healing techniques for 20 years. During those years I had met, experienced and studied with various teachers and healers. So, when I came across an article by Josie RavenWing about John of God in
Shaman’s Drum Magazine, it just called me. I knew instinctively that I needed to go to Brazil and that it should be with Josie. I started getting more information, read her book about her experience and felt even more strongly about going. I shared the information with a friend and talked about going together, but she decided against it.
In spite of that, and my traditional family and friends having some concerns, I was not deterred. Josie was great to work with. She is very grounded and dependable. She returned phone calls and emails promptly. She was helpful in my making plane reservations and getting a visa, etc. In Brazil, she was extraordinary. Josie had everything arranged from transportation from the Airport to the Casa, to our rooms ready for us at a Pousada (Hotel) where the food was great and the people friendly. She spoke Portuguese and was able to translate for us. There were about 15 people in our group, of all ages, from all over the country and were there for different reasons. I was in my 60’s, had back problems and was concerned about the trip being too hard for me. Regardless of our backgrounds, we got along great, bonded quickly and all supported each other. I met some really wonderful people on this trip and consider it a highlight of my life.
Since my trip, I noticed there are now other guides taking people over from the US, but I would highly recommend going with Josie. She has been taking trips for almost 11 years now, works closely with John of God and the Casa and knows the locale.
The energy at the Casa can’t be described – it needs to be experienced. Healing there can take place on many different levels – physically, emotionally, and spiritually. If you go, I don’t know what your experience will be, as everyone’s is different. Trust you’ll get what you need and are ready for. If you’re a little nervous about going, know that you can trust Josie to guide you and be there with and for you. Based on my experience, if you’re drawn to go, I’d say “GO FOR IT”. I am glad I did.
